finde
The phone app as well as the tablet screen help students not only with administration issues and/or overall dorm life, it lights up the mood of the space as well as create a whole new experience for the users.
CLIENT
Grundfos Kollegiet, a dorm which offers housing both to Danish and international students; located in the center of Aarhus.
PROBLEM
Long waiting time in order to book a service (to book the common space/borrow a vacuum cleaner), no clear overview of social events, no feeling of community.
ux research
When starting every project, the first step is always research. There is no other way to create a digital solution that answers actual users' needs.
For this project my part of research consisted of netnography and online interviews with current tenants of Grundfos Kollegiet.
As for netnography - I searched through social media platforms seeking answers for questions such as - with what students living in a dorm struggle the most? what students cherish the most about living in a dorm?
Online interviews were conducted using prepared in advance interview guide and carefully chosen questions.
After collecting all the data and discussing our personas' details, I visualised it.
design
The design process consisted of ideation, sketching, prototyping low fidelity wireframes, making mood boards and style tiles, setting up design rules and creating high fidelity wireframes.
Although I participated in every step of design, my main focus was visual design - starting with picking colours, fonts, etc. going through supervising high fidelity wireframes making and ending on creating final version of design guide.

logo
The creation of logo had started in early stage of working on this digital solution.
The brainstorming behind Finde's logo
went like this: we are in
Denmark. It rains a lot here.
Outcome?
Let’s create a cloud!
Finde means ‘to find’ in
Danish. Plus it sounds a bit
like ‘fine’.
At first, my team and I joked about
naming the cloud this way,
but over time, we just stuck
to it, Finde has become an
irreplaceable member of
our team and the app's masquot.
The idea of creating a
cartoon character that will guide users through the
interface sounded both like fun and a good marketing strategy.

illustrations
To make Finde app even more enjoyable, there are rewards after performing almost every task.
How does it work? Let's say a user decides to book a vacuum cleaner from the dorm. After finalising the task, pop-up window appears and the quick animation can be seen with a short message.
Is there any additional purpose? Yes - with usage of this entertaining feature, users can not only use the app but fall in love with app - this way Finde app can be referred to as MLP - Minimum Lovable Product.
